How is traffic on backbone lines coordinated in real time in the Czech Republic? And what does everyday decision-making by dispatchers, who ensure the smooth and safe movement of trains, look like? This guided tour will take participants to Central Traffic Control (CTC) Prague, which handles the remote control of traffic on 686 kilometres of track, at 102 stations, switches and sidings and at 115 stops as a part of the Czech railway network. During the tour, the participants will learn how the traffic control teams work, how incidents are dealt with and what technologies enable the automation of control. The tour will also include an introduction to the planned construction of a new traffic control centre exclusively for high-speed lines, which will be built in close proximity to the current building in Prague’s Balabenka district.
