CAMP TOUR: Taking Prague's temperature

Sweltering streets radiating heat can make summer in the city unbearable. Why is it hotter in the city than in the surrounding countryside? This phenomenon, known as the urban heat island, is caused by dense development, a lack of greenery, and materials which absorb more heat. Using heat cameras and thermometers, we will explore different parts of the city to see how surfaces and materials contribute to higher temperatures and how environmental changes affect the urban climate. Guides from the Koniklec eco-centre will help us understand the urban heat island mechanics and show us ways to mitigate its impact, including planting greenery, ensuring proper rainwater absorption, and creating green roofs. Join us and let's figure out together how to make cities cooler and more livable.
