Newly discovered photographs in the garage open up unknown stories from the times of the past regime. The images were taken by Karel Bucháček, who had a demanding profession as a mathematician but persisted in his passion for documenting the city. He particularly captured the invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops in August 1968 and continued to document Prague even during the period of normalization. He provided important visual testimony of the redevelopment of Žižkov, Holešovice and other districts, as well as of the prefabricated housing estate in Bohnice after construction. He photographed everyday situations, celebrations, demonstrations and even the Velvet Revolution. The discussion will introduce the new publication Karel Bucháček: The Stifled City, which shows the photographer's "Prague Diary". Tomáš Pospěch, photographer and author of the texts in the book, will discuss Bucháček's life's work with Josef Husák and Josef Zink, Bucháček's friends and colleagues from the Město group.
