The Transformation of Wenceslas Square

How did changes in ownership relations after 1989 affect public spaces? And how important was heritage preservation at that time? The Myslbek, Euro, and Langhans palaces illustrate the approach to transforming the center of Prague in the 1990s. How did these buildings respond to the new economic and social conditions? A guided tour of the area around Wenceslas Square will focus on specific buildings from the first post-revolution decade. The walk will be led by the co-author of the book DEVADE, architectural historian Adéla Vaculíková, and the current projects in the area will be presented by representatives of IPR Prague. What is the square’s current development and what role will the return of the tram line play?
