What position did women hold in architecture in the past, and what position do they hold today? How is their role in the field changing, and how is this reflected in architectural historiography, contemporary practice, and cultural debates? The discussion will offer an interdisciplinary perspective on women in architecture – their work, visibility, and the systemic barriers that affect their professional advancement. Klára Brůhová, Petra Hlaváčková and Šárka Svobodová have accepted the invitation to participate in the discussion.
Klára Brůhová works at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague and she has been focusing for a long time on 20th-century Czech architecture, including lesser-known female architects. Together with Petra Hlaváčková, a cultural theorist and curator of exhibitions on the intersection of architecture and feminism, she participates in the project Women in Architecture. Šárka Svobodová is involved in curatorial projects and publishes scholarly texts focusing mainly on architecture of the second half of the 20th century.
The event will be moderated by architect Petr Klíma, who specialises in researching and popularising 20th and 21st century architecture. The event is part of the Day of Architecture festival.
