Victory Square will be complete. Architect Antonín Engel designed the urban layout of Dejvice as early as 1924. Now, 100 years later, Prague’s third-largest square will be completed. Apartments, offices, civic amenities, a new cultural center for Prague 6, and a new building for the University of Chemistry and Technology (VŠCHT). All of this is set to be delivered by the completion of the 4th quadrant of Victory Square. Its design was selected through an international architectural competition won by the Dutch-Czech team of Benthem Crouwel Architects and OVA. What will the new 4th quadrant look like? Representatives of the winning team from Benthem Crouwel Architects and OVA will introduce visitors to the future design of the development.
The competition was announced last year in early August in the form of a so-called competition workshop. A total of 44 teams entered the competition, from which the jury selected 10 participants for the first round based on the submitted portfolios. In addition to the winning team, the Czech-Dutch group Cityförster and Studio Perspektiv, the Czech firm A69—architekti, MVRDV from the Netherlands, and the Czech-German consortium Pavel Hnilička Architects+Planners and Baumschlager Eberle Architects advanced to the second round.
