We sometimes tend to look down on the architectural heritage of the 1990s. But can the entire output of the first post-revolutionary decade really be dismissed as a whole? This is the question addressed by the authorial team behind a book and exhibition DEVADE dedicated to Prague’s architecture of the 1990s. In their lecture, they will present a curated selection of buildings from the years 1989–2004. The decade after the fall of communism brought about a significant transformation of society, institutions, and building culture—and it is precisely within this dynamic that the work of that period must be read and reevaluated. If we do not recognize its qualities in time, there is a risk that many buildings will face insensitive interventions or demolition.
