A river shapes the character of a city. It plays a vital economic, transport, social and cultural role. On top of that, rivers have a high potential to form an active, high-quality public space that connects the whole city. How do four landscape architects from the Netherlands, Belgium and the Czech Republic, currently participating in a competitive dialogue to revitalize Prague’s right-hand river bank area—Rohan and Libeň Islands specifically—perceive a river? How to satisfy demands from all the different uses of the river, from fauna and flora to recreational use and transport infrastructure or flood protection? How to develop sustainably? And what role should the landscape architect play in all this? These questions and more will be put to the guests from Delva, LOLA, DS landschapsarchitecten and OMGEVING.
