Wayfinding: How to Navigate the City?

Find a way to your destination, the right platform, or even a doctor's office. Three projects shared one goal—to create clear and accessible navigation. Legible Prague from ROPID unifies the visual style of urban mobility—from maps on obelisks to signs in the metro. Railway Administration introduced a new design for the orientation system at Czech train stations, which aims for maximum clarity and a reduction in the number of signs. Czechdesign presented the In the Right Direction project, which advocates for improved navigation in hospitals and healthcare facilities. How are such systems created, tested, and fine-tuned to be understandable to their users? Representatives from ROPID, Správa železnic, Czechdesign, and the graphic design studios Side2, Studio Marvil, and Toman Design discussed these issues.
