I. P. Pavlova Square is an area that has long been dominated by automobile traffic at the intersection of two major thoroughfares, Sokolská and Legerova, with a cross-town thoroughfare between Ječná Street and Náměstí Míru, which is also used by public transportation. Due to this layout, the area has long suffered from a lack of high-quality urban public spaces, greenery, and areas designated for pedestrians.

The revitalization project for the southern part of the square, carried out as an investment by the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK), aimed to address this imbalance. The improvements included expanding pedestrian areas, creating a sidewalk promenade connecting to the metro station entrance, planting a tree-lined avenue, and installing new street furniture, which also required structural adjustments to the elevation (grade) of the adjacent roadways. Project planning took place in 2022, and the project itself was completed in 2023.
