The Spatial Planning Study aims to strike a balance between existing and new development, the area’s natural character, and the extensive existing and planned transport infrastructure. The key project is to preserve the landscape’s memory and architectural heritage and to sensitively integrate the city ring road with its grade-separated interchanges, which have thus far functioned as a negative barrier.

As part of the urban development plan, the study proposes a new city district with a local center connected to the university buildings, comprehensive civic amenities, and links to surrounding areas. Emphasis was also placed on strengthening and developing the Charles University campus, whose integration into the urban and landscape structure will help overcome existing transportation barriers.

Another important component of the concept is the revitalization of the Troja basin, a natural area of citywide and supraregional significance, increasing its overall accessibility, and developing recreational uses that integrate with the existing environment.
