The project to reconstruct the tram tracks on Seifertova, Táboritská, and Jičínská streets represents a comprehensive modernization of one of Prague’s most important tram corridors.
The construction includes a complete renewal of the tram track superstructure and substructure, as well as the reconstruction of stops, overhead lines, drainage, and related utility networks. The project also includes modifications to roads, sidewalks, public spaces, and traffic management, with the aim of increasing safety, passenger comfort, and the reliability of tram service, while simultaneously reducing noise pollution in the surrounding area.
On Táboritská, Seifertova, and Jičínská streets, the existing tram track is laid on large-format panels. For the most part, these will be replaced in the reconstructed section by a structure on a concrete slab with W-tram fastenings and an asphalt surface. On Táboritská Street, in the section from Ondříčkova Street to just before the intersection with Prokopova Street, the W-tram structure will be covered with cobblestones. On Olšanská Street, the track will be connected to the existing open-track structure.
On Jičínská Street, the track on a concrete slab with metro-style fastenings and a stone-paved surface will be replaced by a W-tram structure with an asphalt surface. At the connection point to the existing tram track beyond the intersection with Lucemburská Street, the tram surface will consist of stone paving.
The reconstruction is being coordinated with other transportation investments in this part of the city to minimize the impact on traffic and residents. According to the recently approved PID transportation plan, the project will be carried out in several phases from June 2027 until the end of the 2028 construction season.
The selection of a contractor for the project is currently underway.
