The Letná Carousel is one of the oldest floor-mounted carousels in the world. It was built in Letná Park in 1894 and entertained the people of Prague for 120 years. The last time visitors could ride it was in 2004, when the National Technical Museum took it over and closed the carousel due to its critical condition. In 2017, the long-awaited restoration of this unique and beloved landmark began. This was followed by repairs to the carousel’s interior, for which the National Technical Museum, in cooperation with the Prague 7 Municipal District, launched a public fundraising campaign. Thanks to the funds raised, all twenty-one horses and three knights from the carousel’s interior were successfully restored in 2018. Renovation of the pavilion and the mechanical components is currently underway.
