Rohan Island is located on the right bank of the Vltava River in the neighborhood of Karlín, Libeň and, across the river, Holešovice. Several large public and private investments are planned or already underway on the 88-hectare area of this former island on the Vltava and the adjacent area to transform this locality into a new district of Prague. One major public investment is the Rohan Park project, which will occupy the largest part of the area in question and serve as an important part of the city's flood defenses. The largest private investment is the Rohan City residential and office center, adjacent to several other smaller development projects.

New apartments for almost 4,000 people, offices, restaurants, stores, services and, after agreement with the Prague 8 district, a public primary school will all be built within Rohan City. The investor's goal is to create a properly built city with a diverse architectural imprint, and therefore, as in the case of Smíchov City, several architectural studios will participate in forming this future district. The location can boast of excellent transport links. The A2 backbone cycle path, a tram line and the metro B line Křižíkova, Invalidovna and Palmovka stations are all in its vicinity. In the future, however, it will be necessary to reconstruct Libeň Bridge and probably also to build a new bridge, the location of which is not yet fixed but which bears the working name ‘Rohan’.
