The key document guiding the future development of the area is the conceptual document called the “Island Vision Manual,” which the Property Management Department of Prague City Hall commissioned RKAW office to prepare in 2022. The City Council approved this strategy in August 2025. Further steps in the implementation now depend on negotiations with the Vltava River District Governor, whose jurisdiction includes the riverbanks in question.

The concept for the restoration of Štvanice Island in Prague is based on an empathetic approach to the uniqueness of the environment, its autonomous development over the past three to five decades, and an acceptance of the area’s ruderal character—both in terms of the natural landscape and, in a figurative sense, the local activities and events that take place there. The goal is to create an authentic, site-specific environment rooted in naturalness, without attempting to transform the island into something it is not.
