The proposed LPR zoning plan outlines a vision for the development of both commercial and non-commercial activities at Prague Ruzyně Airport over the next twenty to thirty years. The document consists of 13 chapters in which the Aeropolis team has elaborated in detail on individual aspects of the proposal, ranging from the broader urban planning solution through the architectural details of selected public spaces to the finalization of the development of transport and technical infrastructure.
Airport City North, particularly its main Central Section, was conceived as a tangible and compact location for aviation and commercial non-aviation activities. It combines spontaneous, user-friendly spaces filled with greenery with an urban environment. Historical remnants of the existing development have been transformed and incorporated into the new layout of the Central Section, featuring reference points and a clear logic.
The urban concept for Airport City North—Aviatická comprises three basic zones—CENTER, SERVICE, and BUSINESS—and a fourth supplementary zone, GATE. These form the structure and morphology of the area in axial configurations. All zones are interconnected and functionally linked, either directly or indirectly, to the terminals. Essentially, three-quarters of the Airport City North—Aviatická area under consideration create a simple, logical, and functional synergy composed of various activities, most of which are linked to air transport.
From a transportation perspective, the train and its underground station are key factors in the future accessibility of Airport City North—Aviatická. The train station is located on the central axis of the development, directly beneath the main promenade leading to the terminal area. Transportation has been divided into two circuits: public transit and service to the Airport City North—Aviatická CENTER facilities run at ground level, while passenger traffic is separated on the widened and extended elevated walkway. Ultimately, Airport City North—Aviatická should be perceived as a compact and sustainable destination integrated with air traffic—a place with positive energy, permeated by greenery and modern buildings, and easily accessible by public transportation.
