In 2015, Český Aeroholding, a.s. (now Letiště Praha, a.s.) announced an architectural and urban planning competition in collaboration with IPR Prague. A consortium of architects behind the winning designs, called Aeropolis, developed a zoning plan.

In 2018, Letiště Praha (Prague Airport) followed up with a design competition for the architectural design of parking garages, which will include a proposed public transit and charter bus terminal on the ground floor. The competition also included a design for the Skywalk and the redevelopment of the “Plaza” public space between Terminal 2 and the new parking garages. First prize was awarded to D3A spol. s.r.o., second prize to under-construction architects and Ateliér Dua, and third prize to CMC ARCHITECTS a.s.
