Prague Climate Dialogue: Responsible Construction and Renovation

Did you know that energy consumption in Prague’s buildings accounts for a staggering 77% of the city’s carbon footprint? Buildings are also responsible for greenhouse gas emissions both before and after their operational lifespan. Prague faces an enormous challenge: by 2050, nearly all existing buildings must be decarbonized, and starting in 2028, new public sector buildings must meet zero-emission standards. Join us to discuss how Prague is preparing its own development projects, engaging in dialogue with developers about building standards, implementing urban densification and short-distance city principles, utilizing geothermal energy potential, recycling construction materials, and much more.

Guests include: Petr Hlaváček / Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Planning Jana Komrsková / Deputy Mayor for Environment and Climate Petr Urbánek / Director of the Prague Development Company Ondřej Boháč / Director of The Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR Prague) Moderator: Martin Bursík / Chair of the Climate Commission, Prague City Council
