In the railway station Bílý Potok in the Jeseníky Mountains, Alois Nebel lives a quiet life. Until his peaceful days are disturbed by strange hallucinations. Dorothe, a woman who was a victim of the forced removal of the Germans after the Second World War, appears in them. When a mysterious Mute arrives at the station seeking revenge on his mother, Nebel's world begins to crumble. After a mental breakdown and the loss of his job, he travels to Prague, where he finds love with a toilet maid named Květa. But the past catches up with him again and he decides to return to the mountains to confront his dark memories.
