Building a Dream House

Who wouldn’t want to have their own house? With a garden, a room just for themselves, and a secret hiding place? In the 1990s, lots of new family houses began to spring up around cities—they are called satellites. People could even choose their dream home straight from catalogs. Construction was fast, but often of poor quality and kitschy. People also lacked amenities such as schools, shops, and parks. At the DEVADE exhibition, we will show examples of such satellite towns. We will also introduce interesting projects that brought innovative solutions. Using a construction kit, we will design our own dream house. We will also connect the buildings together to form a new suburb.
