What can music videos tell us about architecture—and what can architecture tell us about music? Together we'll explore how music and architecture intertwine, especially in the second half of the 20th century. We'll screen music videos where striking buildings or unconventionally conceived urban environments play key roles. We'll focus on iconic brutalist buildings from both Western and Eastern Europe, analyze the phenomenon of imitating famous structures—so-called architectural landmarks—and show how videos originally capture architecture, its atmosphere, and the way people perceive it. All this, and set to the sounds of contemporary musical artists. The program will be presented by art historian and theorist Martina Freitagová.
