Big Changes in Prague: Reconstruction of the Libeň Bridge

What will be the final shape of the Libeň Bridge? What news did the recently presented architectural study of the reconstruction bring? When will the reconstruction start? And what condition is this bridge over the Vltava River, with its cubist elements, actually in? The reconstruction of the Libeň Bridge will be on a larger scale than originally anticipated: changes in the project resulted from the requirements of planned construction projects in the immediate vicinity of the bridge. In particular, it was necessary to address the new requirements for providing transport services to the southern part of Rohan Island, the planned construction works for its revitalisation and the comprehensive spatial development of the entire site. The existing arches will be replaced by a replica of the construction of the arched parts, preserving the visual style designed by architect Pavel Janák on the existing pillars in the Vltava River. The four three-hinged arches of the original bridge will then be replaced by four concrete fixed arches in each span.
