DEVADE

We sometimes tend to look down on the architectural heritage of the 1990s. After experts and the general public reevaluated their relationship to the buildings constructed between the 1960s and 1980s, it is now time to rediscover the architecture that emerged immediately after the fall of communism—a period of fundamental political, economic, and social change. The atmosphere of the time was marked by powerful symbolic moments, such as the victory of the Czech ice hockey team in Nagano, which became a metaphor for the self-confidence and optimism of the entire society. On a guided tour of the DEVADE exhibition with the authors of the book of the same name, we will talk about architecture and key events of the period between 1989–2004.
