How was the city planned in the 1990s? What did the transition from a planned economy to a market economy mean? And what decisions made at that time are being followed up on by the Prague Institute of Planning and Development? The lecture traces the development of the post-revolutionary period and the transformation of the Chief Architect’s Office in 1994 into the City Development Department, which five years later created the zoning plan that is still in force today. From today’s perspective, what do we consider to be the benefits of the 1990s—and what, on the contrary, still bears their problematic legacy?
