The Kafkaesque process of reconstruction of the Slovak National Gallery took more than ten years. For too long it seemed that the light at the end of the tunnel, the building's completion, wouldn't remain within sight. Throughout these years, Alexandra Kusá, the director of the gallery, together with her father, the architect of the reconstruction, and her colleagues, has been fighting to make the Slovak dream of a modern cultural institution come true. A crazy round of political pitfalls, permit delays and battles with the builders have more than once led Alexandra to question whether her efforts are even worthwhile. The film will be followed by a discussion with Alexandra Kusá.
