Heat in the City

How quickly is the center of Prague warming up, and why? What adaptation projects is the city implementing? Why do we want as many trees as possible on the streets, and why is planting them so complicated? And how does Prague support residents in implementing their own adaptation measures? Experts will attempt to answer these and other questions from the audience at the final meeting of the Prague Climate Dialogue, which will focus on the problems of heat waves, overheating, and the urban heat island effect. The discussion will address specific measures in public spaces—from planting greenery and rainwater management to the transformation of streets, squares, and courtyards.

The following guests have accepted the invitation to participate in the discussion:

  • Jana Komrsková / Deputy Mayor of Prague for the Environment and Climate
  • Pavel Zahradníček / meteorologist and climatologist, Czech Hydrometeorological Institute
  • David Hora / arborist and lead author of Prague’s standards for street tree lines
  • Jan Richter / climate change adaptation specialist, Prague City Hall
  • Barbora Týcová / project manager, Vnitrobloky Bieno association

Moderator:

  • Štěpán Sedláček / journalist, Respekt
