How tall can a city be and still be pleasant to live in? Are skyscrapers the answer to the housing crisis, or is it rather compact block development? The height of buildings is one of the most hotly debated topics in Prague today, especially in connection with the Metropolitan Plan, which defines rules in meters in relation to surrounding buildings and city panoramas. Taller buildings may be constructed, for example, near metro stations in newly emerging neighborhoods. How does height relate to population density, the quality of public space, and parking requirements? In this debate, we will focus on where and under what conditions greater height can make sense, what impact it has on the daily lives of residents, and how to strike a balance between the need for growth and preserving the character of the city.
