How does a Geographic Information System (GIS) help make the world work better? From the use of maps to support urban development and community planning to biodiversity conservation and animal tracking in Africa, GIS plays a key role. American journalist David Yarnold's book The Geography of Hope brings together nine inspiring stories from different parts of the world. The evening will also feature presentations by Jacquie Black from Perth, Scotland, who will present her work with students, and Kaddu Sebunya from the African Wildlife Foundation, who runs a project to protect endangered African elephants.
