Architecture That Shapes Everyday Life

In the center of Helsinki, they designed Amos Rex – a gallery hidden beneath the square, whose concrete domes have become a new public space. They also left a significant mark with the National Museum of Finland project, where they worked on the reconstruction and new meaning of a cultural institution for the contemporary city. In Tampere, they created the Tammela Hybrid Stadium, which combines football, housing, and an urban block into a single functional whole and earned the studio a nomination for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Awards. JKMM is a studio that is changing the face of Finnish cities. They have long reminded us that architecture is not just a set of technical requirements. It is also about desires, ideas, and dreams – and that is why it has the power to influence how we use the city and how we feel in it. Humanity is always present in their buildings: attention to what people actually experience on a daily basis. Samuli Miettinen, founding and creative partner of the studio, will be coming to present the Museum of Architecture and Design in Helsinki, which is currently in preparation and will feature a facade made of recycled bricks.
