Child Friendly City & Partero

Wooden planks, pipes, tires, sand. What do playgrounds look like? And what could they look like? What is an adventure playground? Why is free play better for children than excessive safety measures? And how can playgrounds be designed—given today’s standards—so that all these rules are followed?

Jakub Finger and Pavlína Pírová, architects from the Partero studio who are behind the newly opened Sobotecká playground in Prague 10, spoke about how and where children play in the city. Joining them were Carolina Sidon and Mirjana Petrik from the association Město přátelské k dětem (Child Friendly City), whose efforts led to the creation of the unique Na Kocínce Adventure Playground.
