David Sim (DK)

Being able to sleep with the windows open. Not being afraid to let your children run freely in the streets. This is what life in big cities could look like. According to Danish urban planner David Sim, a pleasant city requires, above all, the right density, but also a good mix of functions and an emphasis on the human scale.

David Sim is an award-winning professor, urban planner, and long-time close collaborator of architect Jan Gehl. In his book Soft City, he shares his inspiration and provides guidance on how to design cities that are safe and pleasant to live in. The publication has been released in more than 20 languages, including Czech. David also applies the principles described in this book in his agency Softer. In the Czech Republic and abroad, he has been collaborating on projects with the development company Corwin for a long time.
