What would Prague look like if it grew above today’s city? And is it even possible to build something new without having to tear down what already exists? Our inspiration for the next workshop will be architect Karel Prager’s bold vision from the 1960s, in which he proposed placing new developments above the existing city in an additional layer. Houses and infrastructure would thus not have to expand into the open countryside, but rather upward. We will work with structures and together create a model of our own megastructure set in sloping terrain. We will try our hand at the roles of urban planners and architects who think of the city as a system of interconnected layers.
