An island in the middle of the city that used to lie somewhat off the beaten path. Štvanice has a history rooted in sports, recreation, and industry—from an ice rink to tennis courts, a skatepark, and a cultural scene. But what role can it play today? A discussion with Marek Kundrata from the IPR Prague Office of Public Space will focus not only on the island’s future but also on the broader transformation of Prague’s riverbanks and the river itself as vital parts of the city. We’ll talk about public space, connecting the different banks, recreation, transportation, and how Prague’s relationship with Vltava is changing.
Stop by and see our gallery staff. They’ll use the Prague Tomorrow? map portal to show you what projects are in the works for the area. Which ones are already underway, and which ones have been completed in the neighborhood over the past few months?
At our cargo bike, together with moderator Jiří Jaroš, you’ll learn more about the development of the river and the area itself. Architect Marek Kundrata from the IPR Prague Office of Public Space has accepted our invitation.
Join us for a walk through the area to better understand the connections to the surrounding neighborhood and the individual details of the projects. The guided tour along the river will be led by experts from IPR Prague. To attend the tour, you need to register.
