CAMP Tour: Biking through Prague's cycling culture

Cycling isn't just about commuting to work or racing in the Tour de France – it's a diverse world of communities, ideas, and approaches to getting around the city. Join us on a guided bike ride and discover the many faces of urban cycling culture. We will start at the Rekola workshop at the Žižkov freight station, where we will talk about the history of bike sharing and its impact on urban mobility. We will visit the community service centre, take a look at the cargo bike depot, and end the ride at Bike Kitchen on Štvanice, where volunteers help people build and repair their own bikes twice a week. The route, approximately 10 kilometres long and mostly downhill, will be guided by Václav Novotný, head of the Transport Infrastructure Office at IPR Prague, and Jan Střecha from Rekola. So come and join us.

Practical information:

  • The meeting point is at 16:45 at the gate leading to the Žižkov freight station (closer to the tram stop).
  • Rekola bikes will be provided free of charge, but you must have the Rekola app downloaded and working.
  • If you want to ride your own bike, please let us know at least 48 hours before the event by emailing zakostelecka@ipr.praha.eu.
  • The route is approximately 10 km long, the pace is slower and suitable for beginner cyclists.
  • The event will last approximately 2.5 hours and the ride will end on Štvanice Island.
