From Letná to the Chotek Gardens

Prague Castle and its surroundings have undergone significant changes in recent years. This guided walk will focus on two iconic Prague parks—Letenské sady will be presented in terms of its history and use for sporting and cultural purposes. What has been created here over the last 100 years? And how is the place developing today? Chotek Gardens, on the other hand, is just beginning its transformation—a new proposal for its overall revitalization emerged from an architectural competition and sensitively builds on the original concept by František Josef Thomayer. At the same time, it responds to new challenges: climate change and pressure from tourism. Rostislav Zapletal from the Office of Public Space of IPR Prague will guide you through the area. The event will offer insight into how the city and Prague Castle Administration’s approach to public space has changed over the last decade.
