What does it mean today to be a city architect, and how can one best prepare for this profession? A role that can fundamentally influence the quality of the built environment, public space, and the strategic development of cities and towns carries with it growing demands for expertise, communication, and the ability to navigate the intersection of local government, planning, and daily practice. The Czech Chamber of Architects’ colloquium will open a discussion among representatives of universities, city architects, the Platform of City Architects, and other experts on how this role is currently addressed in education, what the practical needs are, and what opportunities systematic collaboration between the academic and professional spheres offers. The event will also focus on specific steps that can strengthen the competencies of professionals in this role and contribute to the improved functioning of city architects in Czech cities and municipalities.
