KRUH: Sarah Cowles, Ruderal /GEO

How can devastated quarries or abandoned mining areas be transformed into living landscapes? Landscape architect Sarah Cowles will present projects by the Georgian-American studio Ruderal, which she founded in Tbilisi. She is currently working on projects such as the recultivation of the Mtatsminda urban forest, landscape design for the Sighnaghi Panorama hotel, and the protection of landscape heritage along the historic Borjomi–Bakuriani railway line. Ruderal has also been involved in research for a long time, and its team includes architects and urban planners specializing in ecological planning, as well as experts in horticulture, heritage conservation, rural development, and public participation.
