8 architects, 8 houses, 8 stories, 8 perspectives on contemporary living. How do the biggest names in architecture, those who are changing the world around us, live? Do they pay rent? Do they live in an apartment or a house? Or do they just have a place to sleep? The film offers a fascinating insight into the everyday lives of the world’s leading architects—prominent figures who have shaped the architectural scene from the 1990s to the present day: Shigeru Ban, Mario Bellini, David Chipperfield, Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Zaha Hadid, Marcio Kogan, Daniel Libeskind, and Bijoy Jain/Studio Mumbai. It was not easy to gain access to the intimate interior of their homes, yet director Francesca Molteni managed to reveal the details of the thin line between the architects’ work and private lives, thus showing new visions of private dwellings and interior design. Set against the backdrop of eight international cities—Tokyo, Berlin, Mumbai, São Paulo, Milan, London, Paris, and New York—the film raises the question of where work ends and private life begins.
