Pražská MHD slaví 150 let!

Exactly 150 years ago, on 23 September 1875, Prague's first horse-drawn tramway was put into operation between the National Theatre, which was under construction at the time, and Karlín, which was still a separate town at that time. This important anniversary will be commemorated by a special event organised by the Prague Public Transport Company. Visitors can look forward to an engaging look at the development of urban transport – from horse-drawn trams to cable cars, buses and trolleybuses to the metro and modern electric buses. The programme will be complemented by expert lectures, screenings of historical photographs, interactive elements and a debate on the future of public transport in the capital. Come and celebrate with us the history that has significantly shaped Prague and find out what transport challenges await us in the coming decades.

Event schedule:

  • 13:00 History of Prague public transport: Robert Mara / Head of the DPP Archive
  • 15:00 Tram network: history, development, future: Miroslav Penc / Head of the DPP Tram Transport Unit
  • 5:00 p.m. Trolleybuses: return, development and future / Ondřej Kubišta / Head of the Administrative Agenda Department
