Rethink Architecture: Affordable housing

The housing crisis affects an increasing number of people, yet housing affordability remains one of the fundamental prerequisites for social sustainability. What tools and strategies can improve the situation? How can we avoid gentrification and commodification of housing? And why is it important to support a diverse composition of residents in newly emerging neighborhoods? The next lecture in the Rethink Architecture series will explore these questions. It will present inspiring projects from the Czech Republic and abroad, including buildings with aesthetic appeal and ecological value. Experiences of people who live in cooperative and community forms of housing will also be included.

The event is organized in cooperation with the Rethink Architecture Institute under the auspices of the Czech Green Building Council and the Czech Chamber of Architects. The lecture is part of the LIFE ClimArchiBase project, co-financed by the European Union and the Ministry of the Environment.
