The capital city that grew up in the middle of nowhere to symbolise the country's new future. Brasília was built on a greenfield site in just three years thanks to the work of more than 70,000 people. Its layout resembles a bird in flight, its streets are straight as a ruler, and its squares are as large as airports.
Together with Adam Gebrian, we will take a virtual tour of this unique city, where dreams of equality, order and modern life were supposed to come true. Using StreetView, we will visit the famous sunken cathedral, the parliament building with its contrasting domes and towers, the sprawling university campus and the National Theatre, which resembles a truncated pyramid. We will also take a look at one of the residential areas, designed to offer people a peaceful life in an otherwise grandly conceived metropolis.
