Construction Approved
June is the last month before the renovation of the Prager's Cubes, the move of IPR, and the temporary closure of CAMP. We’re revisiting exhibitions from our archives, inviting artists, and giving materials from our building a second life. Come and join us for a moment to say goodbye to the Emauzy complex and find out what we have in store for you next.
Exhibitions You Missed
23/05 – 07/06
We’ll take a look back at major exhibitions focusing on Prague’s future (Prague’s Priorities), major redevelopment sites (Smíchov and Žižkov stations, Rohan Island), as well as transportation development (Connected City) and landscape development (The City and the River). We’ll also reflect on the past together with the creators of the exhibitions and interventions Architektura 58–89, Asanace, and DEVADE. Nor will we overlook our collaborations with international figures, including photographer Iwan Baan (Prague Diary) and multimedia artist Refik Anadol (Prague Dreams). The retrospective will also include a brief recap of everything that has been built, discussed, or planned in Prague over the past decade.
For every exhibition we’ve prepared, a range of accompanying materials was created that didn’t make it into this retrospective. In our archive, you can browse through catalogs, go through worksheets with your children, or view digital models of the exhibition using the Matterport app.
Artist Interventions
12–28/06
Leaving. Reaction. Process. Emphasis. Intervention. Want to get involved? Take part too! Step into a space that won’t be the same every day. In the final phase, the site will come alive with a series of site-specific events that will hint at the near future of Prager’s Cubes. Artists will approach the site as a work of art. CAMP will be gradually transformed by Vladimir 518, Krištof Kintera, Lenka Tyrpeklová, David Böhm and Jiří Franta, Agáta Tichá, Epos 257, Tomáš Staněk, Maxmilian A. Mootz, Jan Fabián, Tomáš Svoboda, Benedikt Markel, and others.
You can visit the transformation on an ongoing basis starting June 12; it will culminate on June 25 and remain on view until June 28.
Closing Party
25/06
Before we switch off our neon for a while due to the upcoming reconstruction, we want to properly celebrate this chapter of IPR with you. There will be activities all day long, and we look forward to seeing you at the evening Closing Party.
Archiplay: A New Life for Prager’s Cubes
We’ll explore the grounds of Karel Prager’s iconic buildings and think about how old materials can be reused to thoughtfully transform the space around us. Through games, drawing, and building together, we’ll discover that recycling and upcycling aren’t just about sorting waste, but also about creativity, caring for the city, and finding new possibilities for old things. To attend the event, you need to register.
Join the CONSTRUCTION APPROVED intervention
Leaving. Reaction. Process. Emphasis. Intervention. Want to get involved? Take part too! Throughout the day, the White Hall will transform into a shared creative laboratory. Come leave your own mark in a space that will temporarily become an open artistic playground for visitors, and join 15 artists in becoming part of the intervention CONSTRUCTION APPROVED.
Guided tour of the CONSTRUCTION APPROVED intervention
How do you say goodbye to a building? What comes to mind when you hear the word “renovation”? Curator Denisa Václavová will guide you through the individual artistic interventions within the CONSTRUCTION APPROVED project. She will show you the CAMP complex in a form you may never experience again. To attend the event, you need to register.
Screen Printing with Knedlo Zelo Wear
Together with the Knedlo Zelo Wear studio, we’ve prepared a session where you can create a unique piece for your wardrobe that will remind you of CAMP. You can print on any piece of clothing or fabric you bring, or create an original poster.
Music Program & Light Installation
Prager’s Cubes as the backdrop for musical performances. The outdoor spaces of our complex will become a stage for several performers. Come enjoy the architecture not only visually, but with all your senses. After dark, the spaces will be illuminated by an ambient light installation by Lunchmeat that reacts to the building’s steel structure itself.
Archirun Club
You don’t have to be a runner or an architecture expert. All you need is the desire to run! Join our running club—this time, the start and finish lines are Karl Prager’s architecture. What future awaits the individual buildings designed by this architect? You must register for the event via Strava.
Opening
The past, the present, and above all, the future. We invite you to take a brief look back at the story of the creation and operation of the Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning, the building of Prager's Cubes, and the people who bring energy to this place. Speeches, acknowledgments, and the symbolic opening of our next chapter await you.
11:00–13:00: Lunch with Tamarind Tree
Our legendary culinary neighbors from Podskalí are returning for one afternoon. Amid the greenery beneath the Prager's Cubes, you’ll have a unique opportunity to reminisce about the lunches without which many of us couldn’t imagine our workweek.
17:00–22:00: Refreshments
Food will be provided throughout the evening by Tamarind Tree, Le Pizze di Frankie, and our café. You can look forward to wood-fired pizza, Asian specialties, summer drinks, and a little something to enjoy by the campfire.
Accompanying program
Throw it away? Or transform it? Come help clean up CAMP and give things a second life at the same time. Under the guidance of experienced designers and an artist for whom recycling is a natural part of their creative process, we’ll work with materials from exhibitions—from paper and banners to plywood and other installation elements. You’ll take home your own piece of CAMP and learn how to think about materials in a new way.
