Fairy Tales about Little Machines

Eduard Hofman / Czechoslovakia / 1987 / 70 min. / Czech

Ten short stories from Prague's Smíchov Railway Station and the surrounding tracks. The highest railway official has the evil sorcerer Zababa build the largest locomotive in the world. But he is punished because the train derails on its first trip and no one knows what to do with it. It is only when little Pašíček comes up with the idea of cutting the huge locomotive into a series of smaller pieces that the rest of the nine fairy tales unfold, such as The Curious Little Machine, The Little Machine That Didn't Want to Run on Tracks, and How the Little Machine Went to Get Potatoes. In the end, the good Mr. Blahoš from the engine shed also deserves credit for the improvement of the sorcerer Zababa.
