Art workshop for the exhibition: Brick to Brick

The exhibition A Lot With Little outlines the problems that contemporary architecture is facing nowadays and poses the fundamental question: How can we build sustainably? One possibility is to use renewable, locally available materials and traditional production methods. During the workshop, a group of civil engineers and PhD students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at CTU in Prague, Petr Čanda and Lukáš Bejček, will present the technology of making unfired bricks and introduce children to their project, the construction of a secondary school in the Zambian village of Kashitu, which utilizes this traditional building material. During the workshop, the children will try to prepare the mixture for brick production and also make their own bricks using a special press. The workshop is designed for children aged 6 and above without the need for an accompanying adult.
